Conversations For Change

This weekend I stepped out of my comfort zone.

For years, I have been thinking about how to make a difference in the world. Considering what is important to me, the themes that stoke the fire in my belly and how I can use my voice to make a difference in those areas.

Now I know what areas light me up (see below), I decided I wanted to engage in deep and real conversations and collaborate with others to MAKE those changes happen that I want to see in the world.

People from all over the globe gathered together in St Anton Am Arlberg, Austria to contribute to Conversations For Change this weekend.

From different backgrounds, cultures, religions, social class, ethnicity and sexual orientations – all uniting for a common goal. To engage in conversations that matter. That dig deeper into the issues and explore how we can challenge the current paradigm and make a difference through collaboration.

The founder of Conversations For Change is Heidi Kharbhih. She organises the conferences to bring new ideas to the fore and spark up authentic conversations that result in real change.

There is a single aim and that is to make a difference and change the world, whether that be in health, education, politics, business, service or other industries. There are no restrictions, no barriers, no borders.

Her motto is simple: be part of the conversation, be part of the change.

The 2017 conference in Austria certainly delivered on that. The space was created for exploration, insights and action.

The Speakers And Topics 2017

  • Dr Heidi Kharbhih: perception of inequality
  • Nicola Schuler: Epigenetics and its impact on your health
  • Douglas Gayeton: Sustainability in food and water
  • Frances Coppola: The future of work and why we need basic income
  • Karin Tenelius: Motivated, responsible employees and self-reliant teams
  • Hugo Lopes: The Taylor bathtub and the age of complexity
  • John Burnett: Education for health, wellbeing and innovation
  • Henry Readhead: Summerhill School: educating the whole child

The Agenda

The Conference kicked off with the speakers talking about their area of expertise.

After the speakers discussed their topic – we split off into the area we were most interested in to engage in deeper conversation. The afternoon was filled with debate around that topic – exploring the key issues, how we can make a difference and what we will commit to doing to take action for change. The overall goal – to take action.

Whilst we were in conversation, the delegates children engaged in their own project. To share their thoughts with us on Endangered Animals. They created an amazing collage for us of all the animals that are endangered and stood at the front of the room to present it to us.

This year was the 5th annual conference and the first to be delivered in both English and German.

What Are Your Interests?

  • What topics really fire you up and light your inner spark?

I know I am here for a much bigger reason than my ego lets me believe…

I have 2 areas where I will make a positive impact in my lifetime:

  • Equality for the LGBTQ community. I am a huge advocate for this
  • Animal rights. Expressing a voice for those that don’t have one

My wider interests:

  • Health and dis-ease
  • The environment
  • Sustainability

TAKE ACTION

If you are like me and want to make a difference whilst you are here – connect with Heidi Kharbhih and Conversations For Change.

Don’t sit around thinking about all the changes you would like to see…

Do something about it!

I am looking forward to engaging in conversations with you that will change the world we live in.

See you at the next Conversation For Change?
